Steven "Steve" Carell (born August 16, 1962) is an American comedian, actor, voice artist, producer, writer and director best known for being a correspondent on the late-night satirical television program The Daily Show with Jon Stewart from 1999 to 2005 and for his roles as Michael Scott in the US version of the sitcom/mockumentary The Office on NBC, Andy Stitzer in the 2005 buddy comedy film The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Frank Ginsberg in the 2006 comedy-drama road film Little Miss Sunshine, Cal Weaver in the 2011 romantic comedy-drama film Crazy, Stupid, Love. and for voicing Gru in the 2010 computer-animated 3D comedy film Despicable Me.

He hosted Saturday Night Live on October 1, 2005May 17, 2008 and November 18, 2018 and made a cameo on May 14, 2011 during the "The Ambiguously Gay Duo - The Dark, Clenched Hole Of Evil" cartoon sketch as Bighead.

He is also the husband of former SNL cast member Nancy Walls, who was a cast member during Season 21. Carell was considered for the new cast that season but was ultimately not hired.
