The Spice Girls was an English pop girl group from London, England consisting of Melanie Chisholm ("Sporty Spice," born January 12, 1974), Emma Bunton ("Baby Spice," born January 21, 1976), Melanie Brown ("Scary Spice," born May 29, 1975), Victoria Adams-Beckham ("Posh Spice," born April 17, 1974) and Geri Halliwell ("Ginger Spice," born August 6, 1972). They appeared on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest on April 12, 1997 where they performed "Wannabe" and "Say You'll Be There."
They have also been impersonated on the show, mostly on the "An Important Message About Smallpox" and the "An Important Message About Rheumatoid Arthritis" sketch, both on the January 17, 1998 episode and the "A Message from the Spice Girls" sketch on the September 26, 1998 episode. Beckham, Chisholm and Bunton were also impersonated on the November 8, 1997 episode during the "Set Our Nanny Free!" sketch. Their impersonators are:
- Victoria Beckham - Ana Gasteyer (November 8, 1997), Sarah Michelle Gellar (January 17, 1998), Cameron Diaz (September 26, 1998) and Drew Barrymore (February 3, 2007 during the "Versace Super Bowl Party" sketch)
- Melanie Brown - Chris Kattan (January 17, 1998 and September 26, 1998)
- Emma Bunton - Molly Shannon (November 8, 1997, January 17, 1998 and September 26, 1998)
- Melanie Chisholm - Cheri Oteri (November 8, 1997, January 17, 1998 and September 26, 1998)
- Geri Halliwell - Ana Gasteyer (January 17, 1998) and Kelly Ripa (November 1, 2003)
