Title | Image | Summary |
---|---|---|
Comptroller Rally (Cold Opening) | A bored President George W. Bush (Will Forte) makes small talk in the background as fellow Republican Richard Eckstrom (Jason Sudeikis) delivers a speech while running for comptroller of South Carolina. | |
Opening Montage | The opening montage introduced on the 32nd-season premiere involved the cast on a roof-top party in New York City. It was a completely new production from the previous montage, featuring a completely new logo and VTR. The font was in a plain greyish colour with bold lettering, where each word is progressively larger than the last in both the title and cast credits, with footage of New York City in the background. Gone from the previous intro are Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, Chris Parnell, Horatio Sanz, and Finesse Mitchell, as they all left the show before this season started. Meanwhile, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, and Kristen Wiig are all promoted to Repertory Status. The musical guest and host's pictures are simply seen over top of the background footage instead of inserted onto a billboard like the previous season. | |
Dane Cook Stand-Up Monologue | Returning to host SNL for the second time, Dane Cook performs stand-up about negative people who go out of their way to being a conversation down. | |
TSA Seminar | Two members of the Department of Homeland Security (Dane Cook, Jason Sudeikis) teach a class of new recruits how to identify liquids or gels at airport checkpoints. | |
Hugo Chavez Political Roundup (Show) | Hugo Chave (Fred Armisen) hosts the Banana Republic version of the “McLaughlin Group.” | |
SNL Digital Short - Cubicle Fight | Faced with the challenge of sharing the same office cubicle, Steve (Dane Cook) initiates a “Cubicle Fight” with Gary (Bill Hader), the new hire. | |
Al Pacino Checks His Bank Balance | Al Pacino (Bill Hader) calls a Wells Fargo operator (Kristen Wiig) to check his balance to make sure he has enough money to order an astronaut mattress. | |
The Killers performed "When You Were Young" | ||
Weekend Update with Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers | Brian Williams mistakenly thinks he was to become Amy Poehler’s new partner at the desk. Former President Bill Clinton (Darrell Hammond) and Condoleeza Rice (Maya Rudolph) make amends for his remarks about the Bush administration’s anti-terrorism policy, Sen. George Allen (Jason Sudeikis) uses gobbledygook language to cover his racist “macaca” remark, and Dustin Diamond (Andy Samberg) comments on the sex tape he’s distributed so he can save his house. | |
Poland Spring Delivery Men | A pair of Poland spring delivery boys (Dane Cook, Will Forte) drink all of their product, then try to hide the evidence during a surprise visit from their regional vice-president (Kristen Wiig). | |
The Killers performed "Bones" | ||
Ocean Save | Farrah Fawcett (Amy Poehler) rambles incoherently for a minute before chasing the camera across the studio and inserting herself into another sketch. | |
Closing Time | At approximately 2 a.m., belligerent bar owners Deuce (Dane Cook) and T-Bird (Jason Sudeikis) turn on the lights and pressure everyone to leave immediately. | |
Geico (Commercial) | Whitney Houston (Maya Rudolph) puts a Geico customer’s (Andy Samberg) experience into her own words. | |
Goodnights | Dane Cook thanks The Killers, Brian Williams, this outstanding cast, Lorne Michaels, and everybody they're the best. |
Trivia[]
- With a 11-member cast, as opposed to 16 from last season, as well as a new Weekend Update anchor (Meyers), and the four new cast members from last season getting promoted to Repertory Status, and getting a lot more focus, this is the first episode of the sixth generation of SNL.
- A then new logo was introduced in this episode, however, the words of the show's full name are differently and horizontally. The abbreviated version of the new logo (in a Gotham font) was also introduced.
- Starting with this episode, Paula Pell (who had been a writer for the show since 1995) was promoted to head writer this season, alongside Seth Meyers and Harper Steele; Pell replaced Tina Fey's spot as head writer, since she had left prior to this season.
- This episode marked the return of longtime SNL writer Jim Downey (who had written for the show on-and-off since the show's second season), as he missed all of season 31 to write a novel.
- First episode for Marika Sawyer and John Solomon as writers.
