The 46th season of Saturday Night Live will commence on October 3, 2020. It has been confirmed that the new season will also return to Studio 8H. The first time the season will be produced in-studio since March 7 (the Daniel Craig episode). Afterwards, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season shut down production in studio, and was done at the cast's homes (now called "SNL at Home"). It has been confirmed that the entire cast will be returning this season, the first time this has happened since season 41. So, featured player Ego Nwodim will be promoted to Repertory Status this season. New cast members hired this season include SNL writer/stand-up comic Andrew Dismukes (being 24-25, he is now the youngest male cast member ever, beating Pete Davidson), UCB alum Lauren Holt (herself, born in 1991, and being 29 years old when hired, now the youngest female cast member ever, beating Chloe Fineman), and stand-up comedian Punkie Johnson.

It's also been confirmed that Jim Carrey will take over playing Joe Biden, from Woody Harrelson and Jason Sudeikis. There will be five episodes prmeiered in a row, including one for October 31, making this the first time that a new episode has premiered on Halloween since 1992.
