Season 41 began in the fall of 2015 and ended in the spring of 2016.
Jon Rudnitsky was added as a new cast member for the season,[1] and Beck Bennett, Colin Jost, Kyle Mooney, and Sasheer Zamata were promoted to repertory status.[2] Five well-known writers left the show before the start of the season: Nick Rutherford, Natasha Rothwell, Alison Rich, Claire Mulaney, and season 39 featured player Mike O'Brien;[3] O'Brien stated he would continue contributing the "Mike O'Brien Production" short films he had made for the previous season.[4]
Season 41 was the last for longtime cast members Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah, who were released from the show following the finale.[5]
