Season 2 of Saturday Night Live aired in 1976. Chevy Chase did leave during this season, and was replaced by Bill Murray in November. The episode on March 26, 1977 where Jack Burns hosted was the first epsiode to be called Saturday Night Live.

The first episode of the season was supposed to be good. During the Ford-Carter debate, Ford (Chevy Chase) fell on his podium that knocked to the ground. Chase had broken his groin and it was the first and so far only time someone had to be transported to the hospital. He appered via phone for the next two episodes.
