Season 13 of Saturday Night Live premiered on October 17, 1987 with host Steve Martin and musical guest Sting, despite a fire breaking out earlier in the evening. The season was prematurely cancelled due to the Writers' Strike following the February 27, 1988 show with host Judge Reinhold and 10,000 Maniacs. The strike cancelled an episode that would have had original cast member, Gilda Radner, return to Studio 8H for the first time after her departure to host.
Cast[]
Former cast member Al Franken had many onscreen speaking roles, particularly in the latter half of the season, but was not credited. Other than that, the only major change is that Kevin Nealon (who was a featured player in the previous season) was promoted to Repertory Status.
