Paula Abdul (born June 19, 1962) is an American singer-songwriter, dancer, choreographer, actress and television personality best known for being a judge on the Fox reality television singing competition American Idol from 2002 to 2009, the CBS reality program Live to Dance in 2011 and the first season of the Fox music competition series The X Factor also in 2011. On Saturday Night Live, she has been impersonated by Amy Poehler six times from January 26, 2003 to May 12, 2007, which most of them were during the "American Idol" sketch, by Janet Jackson on April 10, 2004 during the "Prince Show" sketch and by Nasim Pedrad on September 24, 2011 during the "Top Gun 25th Anniversary DVD" filmed commercial sketch. Abdul herself also made a cameo on May 9, 1998 during the "Cheerleading Camp" sketch and on May 7, 2005 during the "Primetime Live" sketch alongside with Poehler's impersonation where she also started the show by uttering the famous line, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"
