The 48th episode and 2nd episode of Season 3 of Saturday Night Live premiered on October 8, 1977, hosted by the actress Madeline Kahn with musical guest Taj Mahal, a blues musician, singer and songwriter. This is Madeline Kahn's second time hosting, as well as the only musical guest appearance on SNL for Taj Mahal.
