The 3rd episode of Season 9 and the 162nd episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on October 22, 1983, hosted by Canadian actor and comedian and SCTV cast member John Candy, with musical guest Men at Work, an Australian rock band.
This was the only hosting stint for John Candy, thus making him the third SCTV cast member to host, and the 2nd and final musical guest appearance on SNL for Men at Work.
This marked the first episode for Jim Belushi as a cast member.
