The 5th episode of Season 38 and the 729th episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by the singer and songwriter Bruno Mars, who also served as the episode's musical guest and performed "Locked Out of Heaven" and "Young Girls." It premiered on October 20, 2012. This is also his first time hosting, and he also his 2nd musical guest stint on SNL.

  • This marks the first time Aidy Bryant starts the show by uttering the famous line, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!." This is also the first time that any of the new cast members of this season utters that famous line.
  • Nasim Pedrad never appeared in any of the live sketches. Her only appearance was during the "Donkey Punch The Ballot!" filmed commercial sketch as Lil' Blaster.
