The 910th episode and the season premiere of Season 47 of Saturday Night Live premiered on October 2, 2021, hosted by actor Owen Wilson, star of the hit series Loki and the films Cars 3, Free Birds, Father Figures, Wedding Crashers, The Internship, Night at the Museum, The Big Year, Starsky & Hutch, Hall Pass, Little Fockers, Masterminds, The French Dispatch, Marmaduke, She's Funny That Way, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Drillbit Taylor, You, Me and Durpee, Wonder, Midnight in Paris, Are You Here, How Do You Know, Marley & Me, No Escape, Bliss, Zoolander, Zoolander 2 and Marry Me, with the musical guest being Kacey Musgraves, a country singer. This is the 2nd appearance for Owen Wilson, as well as his first-time hosting. This is also the 2nd musical guest appearance for Kacey Musgraves on SNL.
Kacey Musgraves made her musical guest debut on May 12, 2018, the twentieth episode and the Mother's Day show of SNL's 43rd season, hosted by stand-up comedian and actress Amy Schumer.
This marked the first episode with Aristotle Athari, James Austin Johnson, and Sarah Sherman as cast members.
Kate McKinnon was credited in the opening montage but she did not appear, as she was away filming the Peacock series Joe Exotic.
Musgraves' performance of "Justified" marks the first time a musical guest has ever performed a song nude on stage.
