The 3rd episode of Season 23 and the 429th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on October 18, 1997, hosted by American-Canadian actor Brendan Fraser, star of Disney's 1997 hit comedy film George of the Jungle, as well as the hit films Encino Man, School Ties, The Mummy trilogy, Gods and Monsters, Dudley Do-Right, Blast from the Past, The Quiet American, Monkeybone, Crash, Bedazzled, Inkheart, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Escape from Planet Earth and The Whale with musical guest Björk. This is Brendan Fraser's hosting debut and Björk made her 2nd musical guest stint, as well as her solo musical guest debut on SNL.
