The second episode of NBC's Saturday Night premiered on October 18, 1975, hosted by singer-songwriter Paul Simon, who also served as the musical guest, with guests Randy Newman and Phoebe Snow, and special guest Art Garfunkel. This episode was almost entirely music, with only four sketches: a fake commercial for wallpaper, Weekend Update, Jim Henson's Muppets, and Paul Simon telling the cast that a bee sketch has been cut. As a result of the format, Chevy Chase is the only cast member to have any significant airtime.
This is the first-time hosting and musical guest stint on SNL for Paul Simon. Randy Newman and Phoebe Snow made their first musical guests stints on the show.
