The 3rd episode of Season 24 and 449th episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by New Zealand actress Lucy Lawless, star of the syndication fantasy television series Xena: Warrior Princess and the Starz's hit comedy horror series Ash vs. Evil Dead, with musical guest Elliott Smith. It premiered on October 17, 1998.

This was the only hosting stint for the New Zealand actress and Elliott Smith's only musical guest appearance on SNL.
