The 2nd episode of Season 37 and the 704th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on October 1, 2011, hosted by actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy, star of the CBS' hit sitcom Mike & Molly and the hit film Bridesmaids, with musical guests Lady A, a country music group, who performed "We Owned the Night" and "Just a Kiss." This was Melissa McCarthy's SNL (and hosting) debut and the musical guest debut for Lady Antebellum on SNL.

Melissa McCarthy's goodnight speech is "I want to say, "Thank You!" to Lady Antebellum! I've had the TIME OF MY LIFE here this week, the cast, the crew, New York City! Thank you for coming! This has been amazing!". (Cheers and applause)
