This is Cameron Diaz's 4th time as the host and her first appearance in 9 years, 7 months, and 13 days. She last hosted SNL on April 9, 2005, the sixteenth episode of SNL's 30th season, with musical guests Green Day, an rock band.

This was also Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars' first-time and third respective musical guest stints on SNL.

Black Orphan Annie   Jamie Foxx (Jay Pharoah) decides to adopt Black Orphan Annie (Leslie Jones) rather than the white Little Orphan Annie (Vanessa Bayer). With Cameron Diaz, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, and Aidy Bryant, plus Kenan Thompson singing a parody of Ram Jam's "Black Betty".
Nest-Spresso   A commercial for an egg-incubating device, with Vanessa Bayer, Kate McKinnon, and Taran Killam.

Night Rumors   An advertisement for a phone sex line, where the women insinuate, they will pressure callers for favors outside of the phone-sex business. With Cameron Diaz, Cecily Strong, and Kate McKinnon.
Goodnights and Closing Credits   Cameron Diaz thanked Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson, Mystikal and everyone at SNL for having her back, and she had so much fun.
