The 876th episode and 5th episode of Saturday Night Live's 45th season premiered on November 2, 2019, hosted by actress Kristen Stewart, star of the hit films The Twilight Saga, Panic Room, Speak, Catch That Kid, Zathura: A Space Adventure, Into the Wild, JT LeRoy, Charlie's Angels, Seberg, Happiest Season, Underwater, Spencer, Crimes of the Future, Love Lies Bleeding, Love Me and Sacramento, with musical guests Coldplay, the legendary British pop rock band, who performed "Orphans" and "Everyday Life". Stewart previously hosted SNL on the February 4, 2017 episode, the thirteenth episode of SNL's 42nd season, with musical guest Alessia Cara, a Candian singer and songwriter. This is Kristen Stewart's 2nd hosting stint.

The last time the British pop rock band Coldplay were the musical guests was on May 3, 2014, the nineteenth episode of SNL's 39th season, hosted by English actor Andrew Garfield, which making them a former five-time musical guest. This is also the first appearance in half a decade and the 6th musical guest appearance for Coldplay on SNL.

Kristen Stewart's goodnights speech is "Hey, What's Up? Thank You Coldplay and Um.. (Cheers and applause), I Told You It Was Gonna Be Tight, Uh, That's It, Thank You So Much Mm". (Cheers and applause again)

Hungry Jury A deadlocked jury (Kristen Stewart, Beck Bennett, Aidy Bryant, Mikey Day, Kate McKinnon, Chris Redd, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim and Bowen Yang) tries to deliberate a verdict on empty stomachs.
