This was the first-time hosting and the third appearance for Chance The Rapper (He previously was the musical guest on the December 12, 2015 and December 17, 2016 episodes respectively). This was also the 7th time as musical guest on SNL for Eminem.
The last time Eminem was the musical guest was on November 2, 2013, the fifth episode of SNL's 39th season, hosted by the actress Kerry Washington.
