The 975th episode and 7th episode of Saturday Night Live's 50th season premiere on November 16, 2024, hosted by English singer-songwriter Charli XCX, who also serve as the episode's musical guest. Charli XCX previously made her 2nd musical guest appearances on SNL on the following dates: On December 13, 2014, the ninth and Holidays episode of SNL's 40th season, hosted by English actor Martin Freeman, and she was supposed to return on December 18, 2021 for the ninth episode and Christmas show of SNL's 47th season, hosted by actor Paul Rudd, but due to a massive in-house COVID outbreak, that episode got canceled, and so she returned later on March 5, 2022, the fourteenth episode of SNL's 47th season, hosted by actor Oscar Isaac. This is Charli XCX's first-time as host and she made her 3rd musical guest appearance, as well as her 4th appearance on SNL.
The goodnights speech for Charli XCX is "My Thanks to Alec Baldwin, (Cheers and applause), Dana Carvey, Kyle Mooney, Andy Samberg and Happy Birthday, Lorne". (Cheers and applause again)
