The 877th episode and 6th episode of Saturday Night Live's 45th season premiered on November 16, 2019, with host and musical guest Harry Styles, an English singer and songwriter. This is Harry Styles' first-time hosting SNL. This is also his 2nd solo musical guest appearance, and he made his 5th musical guest stint on SNL, thus making him a five-time musical guest.
Harry Styles previously made his 4th musical stints on SNL when he was on the English-Irish pop boy band One Direction on the following dates: April 7, 2012, the eighteenth episode of SNL's 37th season, hosted by Colombian-American actress Sofía Vergara, star of the ABC's hit sitcom Modern Family; which coincidentally, was the first episode for then-current cast member Kate McKinnon (who was the current longest-serving female cast member at the time), on December 7, 2013, the eighth episode of SNL's 39th season, hosted by actor Paul Rudd, and on December 20, 2014, the tenth episode and Christmas show of SNL's 40th season, hosted by actress Amy Adams.
He also previously made his solo musical guest debut and his 4th musical guest stint back on the April 15, 2017 episode, the eighteenth episode of SNL's 42nd season, hosted by longtime former SNL cast member and Weekend Update co-anchor Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon; which was also the first episode to be broadcast live in all four zones within the contiguous United States.
