The 936th episode and 6th episode, as well as the post-U.S. Midterm Elections episode of Saturday Night Live's 48th season premiered on November 12, 2022, hosted by stand-up comedian and actor Dave Chappelle, star of the hit film Half Baked and the hit comedy series, Chappelle's Show, with hip hop duo Black Star as the musical guests. This is Dave Chappelle's 3rd time hosting and Black Star made their musical guest debut on SNL.
This was the first episode broadcast after the 2022 U.S. Midterm Elections, making this the third time Chappelle hosted SNL after an U.S. election. Chappelle previously hosted the show after the 2016 and 2020 elections. Unlike those two times, the Midterm election did not involve the choosing of a new president.
Dave Chappelle's long goodnights speech is: "I Would Like to Thank Black Star. (Cheers and applause) I Would Like to Thank Malib, I Would Like Thank to Donell Rawlings, I Would Like to Thanks Ice-T, Lorne Michaels, the Cast and Crew of Saturday Night Live I Couldn't Thank You Enough and I Got to Say Rest in Peace to our Brother Takeoff, We Will Forever Remember You, You May Rest in Power, Everybody Else I'll See You Next Week, Good Night". (Cheers and applause).
