The 590th episode and 5th episode of Saturday Night Live's 31st season, which premiered on November 12, 2005. It was hosted by My Name is Earl star Jason Lee and the musical guest was rock band Foo Fighters who performed DOA" and "Best of You." This is Jason Lee's hosting debut, and the 4th musical guest appearance on the show for the Foo Fighters. The last time the Foo Fighters were the musical guests, was on February 22, 2003, the thirteenth episode of SNL's 28th season, with host Christopher Walken.

This marked the first episode with Kristen Wiig as cast member.

  • Maya Rudolph does not appear in this episode due to being on maternity leave, she is still credited however.
  • In the Falconer sketch, Jason Lee accidentally calls Will Forte "dickhead" instead of "dickweed," then mutters "Shit" before correcting himself. Forte ad-libs that he is neither a dickweed or a dickhead.
