It was hosted by actor Liev Schreiber, star of the Showtime's hit crime drama series Ray Donovan, with musical guest Lil Wayne. This was Liev Schreiber's 2nd appearance and his only time as host. This is also Lil Wayne's 3rd musical guest appearance on SNL.
The last time Lil Wayne was the musical guest with another rapper Eminem was on the December 18, 2010 episode, the tenth episode and the Christmas show of SNL's 36th Season, hosted by actor Jeff Bridges.
Liev Schreiber's goodnights speech is "Thanks to Lil Wayne, Halsey, Swizz Beatz, Robert De Niro, Lt. Commander Dan Crenshaw, Good Night, Thank You So Much, Thank You". (Cheers and applause)
