The 928th episode and 19th episode of Saturday Night Live's 47th season premiered on May 7, 2022, hosted by English actor Benedict Cumberbatch, star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the hit films The Power of the Dog, The Grinch, 1917, The Courier, The Mauritanian, The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, and The Imitation Game, with musical guest Arcade Fire, a legendary Canadian indie/rock band. Cumberbatch previously hosted SNL on the November 5, 2016 episode, the fifth episode and last pre-U.S. Presidential Election episode of SNL's 42nd season, with musical guest Solange. This is Benedict Cumberbatch's 2nd time as host.

Arcade Fire made their 5th musical guest stint on SNL, thus making Arcade Fire a five-time musical guest.
