The 743rd episode and 19th episode of Saturday Night Live's 38th season premiered on May 4, 2013, hosted by comedian and actor Zach Galifianakis, the host of Funny or Die talk show Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis and the star of The Hangover trilogy, as well as the hit films Due Date, It's Kind of a Funny Story, The Campaign, Are You Here, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Masterminds, Keeping Up with the Joneses and Between Two Ferns: The Movie and the animated films Puss in Boots, The Lego Batman Movie, Missing Link, Ron's Gone Wrong and The Bob's Burgers Movie, with musical guest Of Monsters and Men, an Icelandic indie folk/rock band, who performed "Little Talks" and "Mountain Sound." This is Zach Galifianakis' 3rd hosting stint and the only musical guest appearance on SNL is made for Of Monsters and Men.

Zach Galifianakis' goodnights speech is "Thanks to Of Monsters and Men, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Jon Hamm! Thank you very much to the cast and crew! Thank you so much, everybody!" (Cheers and applause)
