  • Although none of the cast left after this season, this was the final episode for longtime writer Paula Pell (who had been a writer on the show since 1995) who permanently left the show after 16 years as a writer. Though she would return to write for the show over the next few seasons.
  • This was the final episode for longtime Weekend Update writer Doug Abeles (who had written for the fake-news segment since 2001), as he left the show after 10 years.
  • This was also John Mulaney's final episode as a writing supervisor (a role only got two seasons ago, with the season 35 premiere in 2009), after just two seasons. However, Mulaney (who was hired by the show in 2008) returned to SNL for the next season, as a producer.
