The 871st episode and the Season 44 Finale of Saturday Night Live premiered on May 18, 2019, hosted by actor Paul Rudd, star of the hit films Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and its 2013 sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Over Her Dead Body, Knocked Up, Role Models, I Love You, Man, Dinner for Schmucks, This is 40, How Do You Know, Our Idiot Brother, Wanderlust, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, They Came Together, How Do You Know, Admission, Prince Avalanche, All Is Bright, The Fundamentals of Caring, Mute, Ideal Home, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and the sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, The Catcher Was a Spy, and Death of a Unicorn, the animated films, DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs. Aliens, The Little Prince, Sausage Party, and Nickelodeon Movies' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Marvel Studios films Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame, and the two sequels Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Netflix's short-lived science fiction comedy-drama series Living with Yourself, with musical guest DJ Khaled. This is Paul Rudd's 4th time as the host and DJ Khaled made his musical guest debut on SNL.

This marked the final episode for longtime cast member Leslie Jones (who had been with the cast for five seasons since 2014), as she left the show after five years in favor of focusing on her movie career.

Paul Rudd previously hosted SNL on the following dates: On November 15, 2008, the eighth episode of SNL's 34th Season, with musical guest Beyoncé, on December 11, 2010, the ninth episode and Holidays episode of SNL's 36th Season, with musical guest Paul McCartney, and on December 7, 2013, the eighth episode of SNL's 39th Season, with musical guests One Direction.

Ouija Board   A group of girls (Heidi Gardner, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong and Ego Nwodim) summon a demon named Bealthor (Melissa Villaseñor) using a Ouija board. With Paul Rudd as the father.
