The 105th episode of Saturday Night Live and the 19th episode of Season 5, hosted by comedian and actor Steve Martin with musical guests 3-D and Paul McCartney & Linda McCartney. This is Steve Martin's 8th and final time as host (until he hosted again on the December 6, 1986 episode of Season 12), as well as the musical guest debut on SNL for Paul McCartney. This is also the only musical guest appearances on SNL for both 3-D and Paul's then wife, Linda McCartney.

This is Don Novello's final episode as a cast member until Season 11.
