The 680th episode, 22nd episode and the Season 35 finale of Saturday Night Live, which premiered on May 15, 2010, hosted by actor and comedian Alec Baldwin, with legendary rock band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as the musical guest, who performed "I Should Have Known It" and "Jefferson Jericho Blues". This is the 8th and final musical guest stint for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, as well as the 15th time as host for Alec Baldwin on SNL.
This marked the final episode for longtime cast member Will Forte (a cast member since 2002), as he left the show after eight years. This would also be the last episode for first year featured player Jenny Slate, as she would be let go after only one season.
Alec Baldwin's good nights speech is "Thanks to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (cheers and applause) and Steve Martin, Thank You" (cheers and applause).

- This was also the final episode for longtime writer John Lutz (who had been with the show since 2004), as he left after 6½ years, and continued to work on 30 Rock (which he co-starred in, while still on SNL, at the time).
