The 865th episode and 15th episode of Season 44 of Saturday Night Live premiered on March 9, 2019. It was hosted by English actor Idris Elba, star of the hit films Pacific Rim, Concrete Cowboy, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Thor: The Dark World, Zootopia, The Jungle Book, The Suicide Squad, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Beast and Three Thousand Years of Longing, with musical guest Khalid, who performed "Talk" and "Better". This was Idris Elba's hosting debut and the musical guest debut on SNL for Khalid.
Idris Elba's goodnights speech is "Thank You Khalid, Make Some Noise, Gwyneth Paltrow, Thank You So Much Everybody, I Had an Amazing Time with the Incredible Cast, My Family". (Cheers and applause)
