The 653rd episode and 17th episode of Saturday Night Live's 34th season premiered on March 7, 2009. It was hosted by actor and former professional WWE wrestler Dwayne Johnson, with musical guest Ray LaMontagne, a singer-songwriter and musician, who performed "You Are The Best Thing" and "Trouble". This is the 3rd time that Dwayne Johnson hosted, and this is also the only musical guest appearance on SNL for Ray LaMontagne.

Dwayne Johnson previously hosted SNL on the following dates: On March 18, 2000, the fifteenth episode of SNL's 25th season, with musical guests AC/DC and on April 13, 2002, the seventeenth episode of SNL's 27th season, with musical guest Andrew W.K. (which it's also his two hosting stints under the name, The Rock).
