The 961st episode and 13th episode of Season 49 of Saturday Night Live premiered on March 2, 2024. It was hosted by actress Sydney Sweeney, the star of HBO's hit teen drama series Euphoria, and starred in the hit films such as Big Time Adolescence, Clementine, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Nocturne, The Voyeurs, Night Teeth, Reality, Americana, Anyone But You, Marvel Entertainment and Sony's Spider-Man Universe superhero film Madame Web, and Immaculate. Country singer-songwriter and musician Kacey Musgraves was the musical guest.

Kacey Musgraves previously made her 2nd musical guest appearances on SNL on the following dates: On May 12, 2018, the twentieth (and penultimate) episode and Mother's Day show of SNL's 43rd season, hosted by legendary stand-up comedian and actress Amy Schumer, and on October 2, 2021, which is the Season 47 premiere, hosted by actor Owen Wilson; which coincidentally, was the first episode for current cast members James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman.

This was Sydney Sweeney's hosting debut, thus making her the second cast member from Euphoria to host SNL, as well as the second cast member from Madame Web to host. Kacey Musgraves made her 3rd musical guest appearance on SNL.

Sydney Sweeney's Goodbyes Speech is the following: "Thank You, Everyone, for Tonight. This Has Been Such an Amazing Week. Thank You, Lorne. (Cheers and applause), Thank You to the Amazing Cast! Thank You, Kacey and Glen. This Has Just Been So Wonderful. (screams) Ahh! Have a Great Night! Thank You!". (Cheers and applause again)
