The 15th episode of Season 4 and the 81st episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on March 17, 1979, hosted by Canadian-American actress Margot Kidder, star of the hit films Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx, Sisters, Black Christmas, The Great Waldo Pepper, Superman and the film's following three sequels, The Amityville Horror, Willie & Phil, Heartaches, Some Kind of Hero, Trenchcoat, Little Treasure and GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords, with musical guest The Chieftains, a traditional Irish folk band.
This was Margot Kidder's only time hosting, as well as the only musical guest appearance on SNL for the Chieftains.
