The 15th episode of Season 21 and the 401st episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on March 16, 1996, hosted by actor and ABC's Roseanne star John Goodman, with musical guest Everclear, an rock band. This is the only musical guest stint on SNL for Everclear and the 7th time as host for John Goodman.

This marked the first episode for Chris Kattan and Colin Quinn as cast members.
