The 15th episode of Season 22 and the 421st episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on March 15, 1997, and it was hosted by English musician and singer Sting, with musical guests Veruca Salt, an alternative rock band. This is Sting's 2nd hosting stint and his 5th appearance, thus making him a former five-time musical guest to enter the Five-Timers Club, thus marking his fifth appearance on SNL, two times as host and four times as musical guest and (previously he is both the host and musical guest on the January 19, 1991 episode), on the eleventh episode of SNL's 16th season. This is also Veruca Salt's only musical guest stint on SNL.
