The sixteenth episode of Season 1 of Saturday Night Live premiered on March 13, 1976, hosted by actor, director and singer Anthony Perkins, star of the hit films: such as the original Psycho franchise, Friendly Persuasion, Fear Strikes Out, On the Beach, Tall Story, Goodbye Again, Pretty Poison, Catch-22, Play It as It Lays, Deadly Companion, Crimes of Passion, Destroyer, Edge of Sanity, A Demon in My View, and In the Deep Woods, with musical guest Betty Carter.

The only musical guest appearance for Betty Carter was made, as well as the only time that Anthony Perkins hosted SNL.
