The 945th episode and 15th episode of Saturday Night Live's 48th season premiered on March 11, 2023, hosted by actress Jenna Ortega, star of the Netflix's hit comedy horror series Wednesday and two of the hit Scream franchise movies: Scream and Scream VI, and the former child star of the Disney Channel comedy series Stuck in the Middle and Disney Junior's computer-animated adventure series Elena of Avalor, as well as the hit feature films The Babysitter Killer Queen, Yes Day, The Fallout, Studio 666, X, Finestkind, Miller's Girl, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a sequel to Beetlejuice, Klara and the Sun, Death of a Unicorn, and Winter Spring Summer or Fall, with musical guests The 1975, an English pop rock band. This was Jenna Ortega's hosting debut and The 1975 made their 2nd musical guest appearance on SNL.

The 1975 previously made their musical guest debut on February 6, 2016, the twelfth episode of SNL's 41st season, hosted by former SNL writer, actor and comedian Larry David, the creator, executive producer and star of the HBO's hit comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The goodnights speech for Jenna Ortega is "I Want to Thank The 1975, (Cheers and applause), Fred Armisen, Um the Wonderful, So, So Funny Cast, uh Jerry, Donna, Katie, um my team, of course, the Crew. Please Don't Destroy Film - Road Trip   Three guys (Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy) go on a great American road trip with Jenna Ortega to help her relax. Also features James Austin Johnson as Jesus and Michael Longfellow as the guy.
The Parent Trap   Things go off the rails on the Parent Trap remake set when a crewmember (cameo by longtime former cast member Fred Armisen) steps in as the body double for an actress Jenna Ortega. Bowen Yang plays the director.

Randy McNally (Molly Kearney) stops by the Weekend Update desk to address getting caught commenting and liking on gay thirst traps on Instagram and James Austin Johnson to share some short celebrity impressions. James Austin Johnson hits his 100th milestone sketch on SNL.
Exorcism   A woman named Ms. Shaw (Ego Nwodim) helps exorcise a demon from a daughter named Claire (Jenna Ortega). Also features Andrew Dismukes and Chloe Fineman as Claire's parents, James Austin Johnson as the priest and Kenan Thompson as Frank Shaw. Also, Kenan Thompson hits his record extending 1600th SNL sketch.
