Lindsay Dee Lohan (born July 2, 1986) is an American actress, singer, songwriter, producer and businesswoman. Born in New York City and raised on Long Island, Lohan began her career as a child model after signing to Ford Models at age three. She made her debut as a child actor on the soap opera Guiding Light (1993) and later appeared as a regular on Another World at the age of 10. Lohan made her film debut in the 1998 Walt Disney Pictures romantic comedy The Parent Trap. The film's success led to appearances in subsequent Disney projects; the made-for-TV films Life-Size (2000) and Get a Clue (2002), and the big-screen productions Freaky Friday (2003) and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004). Lohan's early work won her childhood stardom, while the 2004 comedy film Mean Girls, which was produced by Lorne Michaels, affirmed her status as a teen idol and established her as a Hollywood leading actress. After recording several songs for the soundtrack to her own films, Lohan signed with Casablanca Records and released two studio albums; the Platinum-certified Speak (2004) and Gold-certified A Little More Personal (Raw) (2005).
Following the release of the comedy films Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005) and Just My Luck (2006), Lohan became one of Hollywood's most bankable stars. To show her range, Lohan began choosing more mature roles in independent films such as A Prairie Home Companion and Bobby (both 2006), and Chapter 27 (2007). She also starred in the comedy-drama film Georgia Rule (2007) and the psychological thriller film I Know Who Killed Me (2007). Her reported behavior during the principal photography of Georgia Rule in 2006 marked the start of a series of personal struggles that would plague her life and career for most of the next decade. Lohan became a fixture in the tabloid media for her frequent legal issues, court appearances and stints in rehabilitation facilities. This period saw her lose several roles, adversely impacting her career and public image. In an attempt to return to acting, Lohan portrayed Elizabeth Taylor in the biopic Liz & Dick (2012) and starred in the erotic thriller film The Canyons (2013).
In 2013, under the guidance of Oprah Winfrey, Lohan filmed the docu-series Lindsay (2014), which depicted her returning to work. She subsequently made her stage debut in the West End production of Speed-the-Plow (2014) in London, starred in the second season of the British comedy series Sick Note (2018) and served as a panelist in the first season of The Masked Singer Australia (2019). Between 2016 and 2018, Lohan opened a nightclub and two beach clubs in Greece, which were the focus of the MTV reality television series Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club (2019). After signing a multi-picture deal with Netflix, Lohan starred in the romantic comedies Falling for Christmas (2022) and Irish Wish (2024).
Lohan made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live on May 1, 2004, the eighteenth episode of Season 29, with musical guest Usher.
She returned to host Saturday Night Live for the 2nd time and also her 3rd appearance on May 21, 2005, the season finale of Season 30, with musical guests Coldplay.
Lohan returned to host Saturday Night Live again for the 3rd time on April 15, 2006, the sixteenth episode of Season 31, with musical guests Pearl Jam.
She returned to host Saturday Night Live once again for the 4th time on March 3, 2012, the sixteenth episode of Season 37, with musical guest Jack White.
Lohan also made a cameo on December 11, 2004 during Colin Farrell's opening monologue and the Weekend Update segment.
As of 2024, Lohan is still the only person to have hosted Saturday Night Live three times before the age of 20.
Lohan was also impersonated by Emma Stone on the October 23, 2010 episode during "The View" sketch, by Miley Cyrus on the March 5, 2011 episode during the "Duh! Winning!" sketch, and by Jenna Ortega on the March 11, 2023 episode during "The Parent Trap" sketch.
