John Solomon (born May 23, 1970) is an American comedian and writer.
Solomon was born in Omaha, Nebraska, but grew up in Huntington Beach, California. He started his comedy career as an improv comedy performer at The Groundlings in Los Angeles.
Solomon wrote for Saturday Night Live from 2006 to 2014, serving as co-writing supervisor in his final season. Spanning the entire sixth generation of SNL, up through the first season of the Seventh generation with season 39.
Season 39 had to deal with a lot of cast transition from over the past two seasons, which concluded with and saw Seth Meyers leave SNL and Weekend Update for Late Night with Seth Meyers, and have head writer Colin Jost take his place, where he currently remains.
Solomon is the writing partner of comedian and former SNL cast member Will Forte, collaborating on the screenplay for MacGruber, and working together on Extreme Movie. He was a director, writer and producer for the television series The Last Man on Earth.
He is also a writer for the Netflix series I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, featuring yet another former SNL cast member.
