James "Jim" Carrey (born January 17, 1962) is an actor, comedian and producer best known for is highly energetic, slapstick performances, such as Ace Ventura in the Ace Ventura film series, Stanley Ipkiss/The Mask in The Mask, Fletcher Reede in Liar Liar and as The Grinch in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. He both holds Canadian and American citizenship. He hosted Saturday Night Live on May 18, 1996 and on January 8, 2011 and also made a cameo on February 22, 2003 during the "Times Like These (One-Way Motorway)" performance of Foo Fighters. He was also impersonated by Mark McKinney on the December 2, 1995 and May 18, 1996 episodes, both during the "The Joe Pesci Show" sketch. Carrey notably auditioned to be a cast member at one point, but did not get the role in Season 6. The role went to Charles Rocket. He later auditioned for Season 11, but didn't get on either. Executive Producer Lorne Michaels said that Carrey didn't audition for him, personally.

On September 16, 2020, it was announced that he would play Joe Biden for the upcoming Season 46 prior to the U.S. elections.
