The fourteenth episode of Season 34 of Saturday Night Live premièred its 650th episode on January 31, 2009. Steve Martin returned to hosted SNL for the 15th time. The musical guest was Jason Mraz. For this episode, cameos included Michael Daves, Craig Eastman, Britney Haas, Skip Ward and Colbie Caillat. This is also the musical guest debut on SNL for Jason Mraz.

This episode marks the last time Martin would host SNL until Season 48, though he would continue to make cameos and served as de facto host for Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special in 2015.

Martin would return to host SNL for the 16th time on December 10, 2022, the eighth episode and Holidays episode of Season 48, along with his longtime friend and fellow comedian Martin Short, which he would co-host for the second time, sharing hosting duties with Short, with musical guest Brandi Carlile.

Steve Martin's goodnights speech is "We hoped you enjoyed the show. Thanks to Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat. My band: Britney Haas, Craig Eastman, Skip Ward, and Michael Daves. We had a great time, thank you very much!." (Cheers and applause)
