The 9th episode of Season 5 and the 95th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on January 26, 1980, hosted by actress, dancer and comedian Teri Garr with musical guest The B-52's, a new wave band. This was Teri Garr's hosting debut, and the B-52's made their musical guest debut on SNL.

This marked the first episode for writers Peter Aykroyd (Dan's brother), Jim Downey and Brian Doyle-Murray (Bill's brother) as cast members.
