The 11th episode of Season 10 and the 189th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on January 19, 1985, hosted by actor Roy Scheider, star of the 1975 hit thriller film Jaws and its sequel Jaws 2 (1978), as well as the hit films The Seven-Ups (1973), Marathon Man (1976), Sorcerer (1977), All That Jazz (1979), Blue Thunder, and the 1984 film 2010: The Year We Make Contact, the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, with musical guest Billy Ocean, a British singer and songwriter.
This was the only time hosting for Roy Scheider, as well as the only musical guest appearance on SNL for Billy Ocean. First re-appearance for Jim Belushi after previously getting fired after the December 8, 1984 episode.
