The 12th episode of Season 36 and the 692nd episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on January 15, 2011. It was hosted by actress Gwyneth Paltrow with soul singer Cee Lo Green as her musical guest. This is Gwyneth Paltrow's 3rd time hosting and her first appearance in over a decade. This is also Cee Lo Green's 2nd time as musical guest, and his solo musical guest debut on SNL.

She last hosted SNL on the November 10, 2001 episode, the fifth episode of SNL's 27th season, with musical guest Ryan Adams, a rock singer-songwriter.
