The 6th episode of Season 6 and the 112th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on January 10, 1981, and it was hosted by stage, film and television actor Ray Sharkey, with musical guests Jack Bruce & Friends. Ray Sharkey made his only hosting stint on SNL, and this was the only musical guest appearance on SNL for Jack Bruce & Friends.

This also marked the first episode for Gail Matthius' as Weekend Update co-anchor.
