Justin James Watt, better known as J.J. Watt (b. March 22, 1989) is an American football defensive end, who has played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL) for twelve seasons. He played college football at Central Michigan and Wisconsin and was drafted by the Texans in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
Considered to be one of the greatest defensive linemen of all time, Watt received the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award three times in his first five seasons.[2] Watt's position was primarily defensive end. He also took snaps on offense, catching three touchdown passes during the 2014 season, a season in which he was MVP runner-up. He holds the Texans' franchise records for sacks and forced fumbles. In 2017, Sports Illustrated named Watt its Sportsman of the Year. After retiring in 2022, he joined The NFL Today as a studio analyst. He is the older brother of T. J. Watt and Derek Watt.
He made his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live on February 1, 2020, the twelfth episode of Saturday Night Live's 45th season, with musical guest Luke Combs, a country music singer and songwriter.
