The 9th episode of Season 6 and the 115th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on February 7, 1981, hosted by actress Sally Kellerman, star of the hit films M*A*S*H, Brewster McCloud, Welcome to L.A., The Player, Prêt-à-Porter, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Back to School, and Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird, with musical guest Jimmy Cliff. Sally Kellerman's only time hosting was made, and this is also Jimmy Cliff's 2nd and last musical guest appearance on SNL, as well as his only appearance in the Doumanian-era.
It was also the first episode with Eddie Murphy credited as a repertory player.
