The 497th episode and 12th episode of Saturday Night Live's 26th season premiered on February 17, 2001, hosted by actor and comedian Sean Hayes, star of the hit NBC's series Will & Grace with musical guest Shaggy, a Jamaican-American reggae rapper, singer, and songwriter. Sean Hayes made his only hosting appearance, and this was Shaggy‘s only time as musical guest.
This marked the final episode for longtime cast member Molly Shannon (who had been a cast member since 1995). She departed from the show mid-season following this episode, after six years.
