The 8th episode of Season 10 and the 186th episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by English musician, singer, songwriter and actor and the drummer for the Beatles Ringo Starr with musical guest Herbie Hancock, a jazz pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, and composer and it premiered on December 8, 1984.

This is the only time hosting for Ringo Starr, a former member of The Beatles and the only musical guest appearance for Herbie Hancock on SNL.

This was briefly Jim Belushi's final episode, until the January 19, 1985 episode, as he was briefly fired, due to a confrontation with producer Dick Ebersol.
